Oscar Wilde is 156 years old today, but in his picture he looks as young as ever ... or should that be the other way round?

Such an irony that the Giants of English literature, the ones who like Wilde, Shaw, Dylan Thomas and Rabbie Burns, the ones most often quoted, are in fact denizens of the Celtic Fringe!

These days, I find myself more drawn to a quote attributed to another Wilde (Jimmy) and who is only 188; but once said “the dirty bastard hit me after the bell”.
