The evil that men do lives after them

Today, the time for private mourning for Margaret Thatcher has come to an end. The state has acceded to her wishes and is giving her a sumptuous public funeral at great expense. So now is the time to speak.

As my oration to mark her death, I can think of nothing more fitting than these two lines from Shakespeare:

I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him.
The evil that men do lives after them.

Julius Caesar: Act 3, Scene 2
